Engine Company

Definition: Basic firefighting apparatus assigned to every station that responds to all types of fires, rescues, and medical calls; carries a water supply and hose.

Primary roles: placement of hose lines to supply water for rescue, fire extinguishment, exposure protection, patient evaluation and stabilization on medical calls.

Water carried: 500 gallons

Equipment Carried: all units are equipped with Advanced Life Support medical equipment, a 1500 gallon per minute fire pump, hose, all have quick attack hydraulic tools for vehicle accidents and extrication

Amount of hose carried: 2000 feet of 3 inch supply hose, two quick attack 1 3/4 inch firefighting hose lines totaling 400 feet, and two quick attack 2 1/2 inch firefighting hose lines totaling 400 feet.

Staffing: 1 Captain, 1 Driver Engineer, 1 Firefighter/Paramedic

Platform Company

Definition: an apparatus that is larger than an engine and mounted with an aerial ladder and platform

Primary Roles: forcible entry, search & rescue, assist with evacuation, ventilation of structure, placement of ladders, check for fire extension, salvage and overhaul, secure structure; also backs up engine on medical calls.

Water Carried: 300 gallons

Equipment carried: equipped with Advanced Life Support medical equipment, 95 foot elevated platform, vehicle extrication tools, and other rescue equipment, forcible entry tools

Amount of hose carried: 800 feet of 4 inch supply hose, two quick attack 1 3/4 firefighting hose lines totaling 400 feet, one 1 3/4 quick attack trash line totaling 100 feet, and one 1 3/4 hose line connected to the platform totaling 50 feet.

Staffing: 1 Captain, 1 Driver Engineer, 1 Firefighter/Paramedic

Squad Company

Definition: a vehicle that responds to all hazardous materials calls, rescue alarms and structure fires where the crew is utilized for command staff support.

Primary roles: to provide specialized rescue capabilities and hazardous material mitigation, to fulfill planning and logistics functions at structure fires; light the fire ground when appropriate, and cut off utilities at fires.

Water carried: none

Equipment carried: equipped with Advanced Life Support medical equipment, high powered lighting, 40k watt generator, rescue tools, specialized hazmat monitoring and mitigation equipment, SCBA air fill system

Staffing: 1 Captain, 1 Driver Engineer, 1 Firefighter/Paramedic; flex staffing via adaptive response staffing with Platform

Rescue Ambulance Company

Definition: a vehicle that responds to medical emergencies

Primary Roles: patient evaluation and stabilization on medical calls, response to all types of emergencies including fire

Staffing: 1 Rescue Lieutenant, 2 Firefighters/Paramedics
