Logistics And Special Services


The Logistics and Special Services Division encompasses a variety of departments that are coordinated for the sustenance of all stations, facilities, and the fleet.  It is the responsibility of this division to research and provide uniforms and equipment of the highest quality and safety for all employees, and distribute them in a controlled, expedient manner.  The Logistics and Special Services Division also includes the 911 Communications Center and the City of Deerfield Beach Emergency Management Department.

Assistant Chief John Quitoni has resided in Deerfield Beach since 1978 and is a graduate of Zion Lutheran High School.  John has an Associates of Science Degree in Fire Science, an Associates of Science Degree in Emergency Medical Services, and is currently working on his Bachelors of Science Degree in Fire Science.  John is a 23 year veteran of the Fire Service, hired right out of the cadet program in 1985.  In 1991 John was nominated Firefighter of the Year” by DBFR, and in the same year, was honored by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office for his heroism.   John is a founding member of the Pier Team, the Dive Rescue Team, and of the Honor Guard- of which he is still a member.  John served the department as a Rescue Supervisor for 7 years when he was promoted to Lieutenant in 1998.  In 2005, John was promoted to Fire Training Officer, where he laid the foundations for a successful Fire Training program that is still being used today.  In 2007 John was promoted to his current position of Assistant Chief of Logistics and Special Services Division.  Chief Quitoni also coordinates our Emergency Operations Center and our local “CERT Team”.

Administrative Assistant Marvine Innis provides direct support to the Logistics Assistant Chief. This support is in such areas as maintaining inventory of vehicles and equipment, and daily input of all requsitions for maintenance and repair of vehicles and replacement gear for Firefighters. Marvine also serves in the capacity of monitoring and ordering office supplies. Marvine has been with the Department since August of 2008.

Equipment and Supply Allocation  

The division manages the inventory and supply distribution, to meet the daily needs of the Fire Rescue Department including; fire tools and equipment, office and janitorial supplies, station furnishings and fitness equipment.  The Logistics Division is also responsible for supplying all 156 firefighters with shift uniforms and personal protective equipment such as; helmets, turnout coats, turnout pants, boots and gloves.

 Research and Procurement  

The departmental purchasing program is centralized in this division for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness.  The logistics division strives for incremental improvement and a higher level of effectiveness of the department’s resources through a commitment of research and study in the areas of protective equipment, new fire apparatus, station wear, fleet maintenance and facility upkeep.

Facilities Upkeep Coordination

The Logistics Division coordinates with the Station Officers and the City of Deerfield’s Building Maintenance Department for the maintenance of the 4 Fire Rescue stations and associated Fire Department facilities.  This maintenance includes: HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, overhead doors, appliances, renovations, pest extermination and security systems.


Communications Section





The 911 Communications Center is staffed 24 hours a day-7 days a week. Mona Boyd is the Communications Supervisor who oversees a staff of 7 full-time employees and 6 part-time employees. They receive the public distress calls and make the vital decisions of the amount and type of resources required to respond to the request for the nature of  the emergency. They are prominent in the use telephones, radios, Zetron and First-in Alerting System.  It is imperative that these systems are working effectively and efficiently at all times.



Resource Management Section Fleet Services Division

There are 3 full-time and 1 part-time mechanics who work hard to ensure that our fleet of emergency response vehicles is ready for service. They are led by Maintenance Supervisor Bill Boeckler, who has been with the organization since 1989. These technicians are responsible for the repair, testing, and daily maintenance for all of the department’s vehicles, tools and equipment. The technicians have been trained for Diesel repair, small engines, Holmatro Tools repair, nozzle repair, and they have been Scott Air Pack repair technician certified. The resource Management Fleet services is also responsible for prevention maintenance and refurbishments of all the departments wheeled vehicles. This includes the annual Aerial testing and annual pump testing of all the fire apparatus.
