Holiday Message from Chief Brocato

As the Holiday Season approaches us, it brings celebration and the joys associated with it. The season can be one of fun, joy, and celebration. For your Fire Department it is one of the busiest times of the year.

U.S. statistics show a dramatic increase in the number of residential fires and medical emergencies occurring in homes during the Holiday Season. The use of candles, holiday cooking, Christmas lights, alcohol use or overdose, improper use of fireplaces, and simple carelessness are contributing factors to the dramatic increase in service.

With all the celebrations and events of the Holiday season, people get easily distracted. These distractions can lead to PREVENTABLE fires and medical emergencies which often result in property loss, injury, or needless deaths.

The City of Deerfield Beach Department of Fire and Rescue would like everyone to have a SAFE Holiday Season. Please have prevention in the forefront of all your holiday preparations to avoid or survive a fire and or other emergency. Some foresight and planning as well as paying attention to detail can avert a disaster at a time which should be joyous and special.

Be Safe,

Chad Brocato, Fire Chief

UT VIVANTE ALLII

(so others may live)
